Women in Business Spring Semester Newsletter 2022

Women in Business Student Organization

As Public Outreach Director for Women in Business, I developed a digital newsletter to highlight the organization’s initiatives, events, and successes over the spring semester. I was able to successfully contribute my creative skills to highlight an organization of driven, young businesswomen through sophisticated designs and features. The publication was then digitally distributed to over 100 members, alumni, and corporate sponsors.

Professional Report: Exploring the Supply Chain Discourse Community

General Business 360: Workplace Writing and Communication

Over the course of four months, I constructed a professional report to describe and analyze the discourse community of supply chain professionals and negotiation with their vendor partners. I synthesized research from trade journals, professional magazines, and news articles. With the completion of this report, I was able to successfully grow my supply chain acumen to be used in future career endeavors.

IndoCabs Business Analytics Strategy Recommendation

General Business 306: Business Analytics

I was responsible for analyzing data from IndoCabs, a cab portal company based in India, to understand patterns surrounding trip cancellations made by the company. I used these insights to drive a recommendation the company could use to reduce cancellations, optimize operations, and ultimately increase customer experience. Over the course of four months, this project allowed me to build upon my analytical problem solving and data storytelling skills.

I analyzed data from PhillyCycle, a Philadelphia based bike sharing company looking to drive growth. I leveraged insights related to demand patterns to understand consumer behavior and drive a business strategy recommendation that the company could use to expand their operations. Over the course of four months, this project challenged me to develop a professional understanding of data analytics, and how to effectively report results.

Butterbird Restaurant Launch Marketing Strategy

Marketing 460: Marketing Strategy

My team and I partnered with a local Madison restaurant, Butterbird, to foster the development of a strategic market plan. Over the course of two months, my team conducted primary and secondary research of market trends, competitiveness, and seasonal offerings for various customer segments and their dining experiences. These recommendations allowed Butterbird to effectively plan for the opening of their restaurant a month later.

Fresh Cool Drinks Food Truck Seasonal Market Research

Marketing 310: Marketing Research

My marketing research team and I conducted a study on Generation Z students and their dining preferences on the UW-Madison campus. Over the course of four months, we held 10 qualitative consumer interviews, conducted observational research, and designed a questionnaire. These insights were used to create recommendations for the Fresh Cool Drinks food truck to optimize their marketing efforts. This project taught me how to effectively measure data results using paired samples, cross tabulation, and regression analyses.
